Parallel Paths: 30 Days in London: Reflections of New York

London is the epitome of regal opulence, starting with the Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, Big Ben, the Changing of the Guard and countless royal palaces and monuments. There are also the iconic black cabs, the London Eye for the best views of the city and those red telephone booths that still work and tourists love to take selfies in. But for me, what was most striking was the similarities to New York City. Maybe I am feeling a bit home sick but London made me feel at home….

“Si te quieres divertir con encanto y con primor sólo tienes que vivir un verano en Nueva York”— El Gran Combo
The song “Un Verano en Nueva York,” which translates “A Summer in New York,” performed by the popular Puerto Rican salsa band “El Gran Combo “  captures people’s fascination with the city’s vibrancy and scale. California Northern Series: Final Stop … The Golden City of San Francisco

IMG 2423 scaled

Last leg of a 10-day road trip through California coastline arriving at the state’s most quintessential city.

Next and final stop is the quintessential city of San Francisco. A city where the contrast between the rich and the poor is exacerbated by the growing housing crisis and, more recently, the pandemic.  Yet it is a romantically alluring city with so many distinctive iconic landmarks to revel in.   There is so much to see when visiting this city, beginning with the Golden Gate Bridge to the popular Alcatraz Island. The architecture of the city is just truly exquisite, stylish and diverse. It represents a combination of Victorian homes of every type from gorgeous Queen Anne styles to Gothic and Tudor Rival structures, including some very cool contemporary modern architecture.
